2020 Holiday Guide

We've all been through a lot this year, but gaming still goes on in many of our lives-- especially now that the holiday season has officially begun. I've put together a little list of 10 essential gaming items I think would help take our minds off 2020 and back on fun. Enjoy!

Fallout: You're S.P.E.C.I.A.L.

This little book could easily pass as a children's storybook-- which is sort of is. You're S.P.E.C.I.A.L. is a near-identical copy of the book by the same name found in the Fallout series. Used in-game to allocate points to your characters attributes, the You're S.P.E.C.I.A.L. physical copy reads the same way from cover to cover, and each page is made of thick paperboard for that children's storybook look and feel.

Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit Mario (or Luigi) Edition - Nintendo Switch

Mario Kart is back! This isn't your grandmother's Mario Kart. Nope! This is the newest hippest karting game on the block! And I don't mean Mario Kart 9! Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit is a a mix between a toys-to-life, remote control car, and video game. Create a track inside your home, place your Mario RC kart (Luigi RC kart sold separately) on the floor and race among the various Mario franchise characters, in real life and on the screen! There's no limit to what types of tracks you can make and endless fun you can have.

Star Wars: Squadrons

Jump into the ship of an X-Wing or TIE fighter in this starship fighter from EA. Feel the rumble as you take control of your own ship and set out to help fight for control over the galaxy as both a rebel and imperial soldier. With excellent controls, you actually get to find out what it's like to run the throttle into lightspeed or pull he yoke back to tilt the pitch. But be careful, both online and offline, the opposing team is ready to make sure you don't succeed.

Extra Controllers

There is nothing more exciting than receiving a new console for Christmas from a parent, relative, friend, or significant other. But the console could be better with friends from time to time, right? Get yourself a second, quality, first-party controller and keep your family even closer this season.

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim

There's something brewing in the world of 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim. Vanillaware has really outdone themselves in this teen drama, wrapped around conspiracy theories in the middle of high school. Discover the deep, non-linear story then march over to the really from real time strategy gameplay to keep the momentum going strong. The best part about this game is you never know what's about to happen next!

Xbox Game Pass Subscription

Wanting an assload of games for Christmas, but you just don't have the budget-- or the asking-your-parents power? Head over to Xbox Live or a local game retailer and pick up Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass for $15 a month or 6 months for $59.99 (the price of one standard physical video game). With over 100 diverse, high-quality games to play, you can pick and choose from virtually any genre. There's sure to be several games in Game Pass that will more than satisfy your video game craving!

Super Mario 3D All-Stars

There's almost nothing better than a good old classic Super Mario game! And Super Mario 3D All-Stars is no exception. It's Mario's 35th anniversary and there's no better way to celebrate than going back to his classic games. Travel inside the pictured walls of the Mushroom Kingdom in Super Mario 64, sunbathe on the paint-covered sands of Isle Delfino in Super Mario Sunshine, and save the universe in Super Mario Galaxy. With HD resolution and better controls, these three Super Mario games are a must-have!

LEGO Super Mario Character Packs

Keeping up with the Mario theme, here's another little something that might have flown under your radar. LEGO Super Mario blind bags. These awesome little bags contain one Mario baddie along with a miniature scenery that you can build up and display in minutes. They're cute, colorful and just overall really cool. There are 10 to collect and they're at a really good price.

PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X /S

I think we all saw this coming. The biggest, most important gifts of the year have to be the newest gaming consoles on the market. There's nothing more exciting than having that fresh plastic smell wafting through the air on Christmas morning. Especially now when we're all home a lot more during these holidays. With many times the graphical power and super SSD speeds, whichever console you choose, be it the PlayStation 5, PS5 digital edition, Xbox Series X, or the Series S digital edition, there's no going wrong. And if you purchased the Xbox Game Pass, all of those games are compatible on the Xbox Series X and Series S instantly!
